Mini hideaway in the clouds over Trastevere

Mini hideaway in the clouds over Trastevere

Rome, Latium 2

A perfect little apartment, cosy and luminous surrounded by a large terrace filled with sunlight and flowers with views out all the way to the hills of the Castelli Romani. It feels like being up in the sky, like a bird, caressed by Rome’s soft westerly “pontino” breezes that freshen even the hot summer sun.
Looking out from the terrace both day and night, you’ll take in the vibrant life of the Trastevere neighbourhood and its railway station. From this location you can get everywhere on foot, by bicycle or by trolley the short distance to the ancient historic centre with all its marvels, as well as to the former proletariat – and now trendy – neighbourhoods of Ostiense and Testaccio, where Romans come to dine in old and new restaurants, listen to live music and haunt the many avant-garde clubs and theatres.

At just a few minutes distance is all the magic of the winding alleyways of Trastevere, where on Sunday mornings the streets brim with people and life and the more than 1000 stands of the famous open-air Porta Portese market, the largest in Italy, where you can get lost among the many offerings – and perhaps even come across a little masterpiece going for a song. After a turn around the market, stop off for one of the most delicious “maritozzi” (whipped-cream-filled pastries with pine nuts and candied fruit) that Rome has to offer!
